Josephine Smith, 83, of Glendive, Mont. passed away on September 24, 2020. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Glendive with Pastor Greg Lucido officiating. Silha Funeral Home of Glendive has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Jo, as she was known, was born in Corvallis, Mont. to the late Primo and EuLaLia Suarez. She was raised and educated in Corvallis here she graduated in 1955. She met the love of her life Bruce Smith and they were married on May 25, 1958 in Hamilton, Mont. They had 62 wonderful years together. They lived in Hamilton, Missoula, and Polson, before finally settling down in Glendive in 1969. While in Polson, she worked at the hospital. In Glendive she was employed at Buttrey’s Food for 20 years. After leaving there she went to work for CCM at Our Savior Lutheran Church cooking.

Jo was a devoted wife, loving mother and caring friend. She was very talented and kept busy with wood working, crocheting, embroidering, sewing, gardening and baking. You could always see her crafts and baked goods at the Zonta which she participated in for many years. She enjoyed spending her Thursdays with her sewing ladies at Creusa’s.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Primo & EuLa-Lia Suarez, brothers, Jess Suarez, James Suarez, Gabriel Suarez, Henry Suarez, and her granddaughter Sarah Hinton.

Josephine is survived by her husband Bruce Smith, children, Judie (Jerry) Hoffman of Richey, Mont, Sue Monson of Glendive and Linda (Fred) Deming of Manitou Springs, Colo. She was blessed with 10 grandchildren and 17 greatgrandchildren.
